ohh this is going to be very spicy to most millennial digimon fans

digimon, as a brand, and as a fanbase, needs to move on from digimon adventure.

it's been nostalgia milked for years, its characters have been milked for years, its archetypes have been milked for years, the show itself for marketing has been milked for years. the fanbase too, largely focuses on this one canon for years, on the first ever tv show, its sequel, its other sequel, and some movies. the adventure canon gets the most attention and add-ons, and most digimon fan content also focuses heavily on adventure. even the "digimon artstyle" people latch on to tends to be the adventure style of drawing humans and digimon.

digimon itself has grown past adventure, the designs and artstyle gas evolved, the stories its tried to tell have slowly crept out of adventuee's shadow, there's new and creative stuff being done with the brand, in video games, tv show, manga, and more, yet bandai and the fanbase keep latching on to 90's era nostalgia. adventure even got a 2020 reboot, because the characters' image is so popular that they'd rather have just recycled them than do something original until ghost game.

appmon, one of the best seasons of digimon, was completely ignored by the fanbase, who believed it to be "too different" even though digimon has always been trying new stuff and reinventing itself, in the show, manga, video games, and even vpet devices, yet people too stuck in their nostalgia and too attached to adventure as the idea of what digimon should be, refuse to move forward with the franchise, and miss out on something genuinely great. digimon has always gotten by off of a loyal internal fanbase, but the above attitudes contributed quite a lot to appmon being a flop, and adventure 2020 being done as a "safe" way to get people's attention again. the difference in quality between the two is night and day.

now i like adventure (1999), its good, a really good first attempt for the tv anime, set a great groundwork, and had a great cast. but as time went on, its flaws have begun to show when really good seasons, good manga, and good video games have surpassed it, but bandai still leans too hard on adventure, and the fanbase eats it all up, never really appreciating what we've got. hell, digimon even has the "charizard problem", but even worse. agumon, gabumon, their evolutions, and particularly omegamon, get so many alternate forms, evolutions, mode changes, etc, that they end up in fucking everything, to a point where even some digimon take direct inspiration from them, and it feels as though we're never getting away from the same design core.

even the "genwunner" problem is more pronounced in digimon due to the smaller fandom size. there's just a lot of fans who rarely stray outside of adventure, adventure content, and adventure-era digimon themselves. there's a genuine wealth of varied, high quality digimon content out there to find, but it does feel as though the brand and the franchise is afraid of it.

adventure is getting another movie coming up soon, and while i am looking forward to it, i do wonder what it would be like if something like tamers, or savers, for example, got the same level of love from bandai and the fanbase at large.

i'm not saying adventure needs to be abandoned, disgraced, or forgotten, but i do feel as though digimon as a whole needs to rely on it less, and the fanbase needs to let go of it a little, and be willing to try new things, and enjoy a wider breadth of what digimon as a franchise has to offer. right now it just feels really odd to be a digimon fan, since it feels as though a noticable portion of the fanbase doesn't seem interested in anything other than stuff that came out over 20 years ago now, and is really missing out.

this was really long huh. uhhhhh go try out a season of the anime you've never seen, go play a video game you've never tried, give one of the mangas a shot if you like to read, go wild. i promise you bros, this shit's just as good today as it was 20 years ago. give it a chance.

thinking about how i hated the ending of last kizuna

which sucks because i love the idea of “digimon adventure series but theyre older grown up now!”, and i liked literally everything EXCEPT for how they handled the main theme/plot.

(rant below, disclaimer: i watch the dub, dunno how different the plot is from the original/sub. also its been a hot sec since i watched it but it pissed me off so much i remember the main details dw. spoilers btw)

the theme in last kizuna fucking sucks. It’s all about like. letting things go as you grow up, which is fine, but they do it in the stupidest, most untrue way possible.

theyre trying to say that like. the digimon “die” (or at the very least disappear forever) as a digidestined grows up and “loses all their potential” because kids have more potential than adults

but that is just. straight up untrue? True, theres a whole idea about how kids have the potential to grow up to do anything. but its not like all your choices in life end when you hit 22 (i say this because thats around how old they are in the movie, early 20s 💀). You have the potential to: Learn new things/take college classes, get new jobs/pursue new careers, hell even smaller things like getting new hobbies or just. There’s so much potential in life for you to do things that make you happy. and I’d argue adults have more potential than kids, as they have more freedom and more of the ability to actively work towards change and work towards whatever potential they have (kids cant exactly pursue new careers or something like that)

And whats even stupider than the bad message is: they chose the two kids with THE MOST potential to kill of their digimon because of this stupid explanation. Think about it: Mimi has started a start up business, Izzy is already the president of a tech company, Joe is a doctor: most of the kids have careers now. But then they chose MATT AND TAI (Matt is in school still. Tai literally spends the whole movie not knowing what he wants to do with his life, he’s struggling in school and finding a meaningful career/what he wants to do with his life). And they say “oh those two have lost their potential so their digimon are disappearing” WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? THEY HAVE ALL THE POTENTIAL IN THE WORLD TAI LITERALLY DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHAT HE WANTS TO DO WITH HIS LIFE 😭😭

My personal theory is that the villain was wrong. She lost her digimon when she was like, a little kid still, and it was after a great achievement in her life. So she goes “oh, it must be because I lost all my potential :( “ and thats the explanation they go with for the entire movie. But it is like. Likely that shes wrong purely because that doesnt make any fucking sense 💀

I don’t know exactly what the true explanation is, but heres me taking a shot in the dark with a guess (which could be wrong): I think that its a metaphorical “destiny” death. Digimon never really die for real, we know this since theyre originally just a tamagotchi (which resets when it dies), and even though in the movie they say that theyre gone forever, the ending implies theyre not (and if the 02 ending is canon: then we KNOW theyre not since they were way older in that and still have their digimon). But I do think that like: its the death of their destiny duties. The whole god damn series these kids havent had a break from constantly having to save the world with digidestined madness. But its getting to a point where theres enough new digidestined to where: the older ones might not be needed to save the world anymore.

its a “death” from having to deal with the responsibility of the digital world and all the destiny shit that comes with it. And I think that if they seek out their digimon (who are implied to still be around based on the ending, also the villain definitely tried seeking out her digimon. while we don’t know fully what happened, its clear menoa lost sight of herself, perhaps her digimon got corrupted/dark digivolved into the eosmon we see throughout the film, since eosmon is DEFINITELY the evolution of morphomon.) If they do seek out their digimon without losing sight of themselves, i believe could still have a happy life together (as we see at the end of 02). Just without any of the holds to destiny they once had. Theyve lost their old responsibilities, and have new ones in their own, adult lives.

wanted to write some more about this and answer some questions

first answers to two questions i saw: its available for both chrome/chromium and firefox. the search filtering works for google, bing, and duckduckgo.

i wanted to clarify like, the main goal from what i understand is to get folks to use high quality independently hosted wikis they might not otherwise know exist since search engines typically put fandom at the top. since theres still some wikis primarily only on fandom, by default it wont touch any other fandom wikis not in the list. however if (like me) u hate fandom.com u can turn on breezewiki redirection if you so desire, which will redirect any other fandom wikis not listed to a breezewiki instance of your choice. at the very least if youre already aware of all these indie wikis and use them regularly, with the extension youll never accidentally end up on fandom from a google search again lol

also some of these indie wikis are actually hosted on miraheze rather than hosted by the owners of the wiki. this is fine since miraheze is a nonprofit wiki farm with 0 ads that very rarely fucks with the wikis it hosts compared to fandom. miraheze is doing good work :)

another thing, the extension is fully open source! u can find the source code on github here and fork, make pull requests, write issues, inspect the source code urself, whatever. its licensed under the MIT license

I wanted to know if you could explain what the Digimons attributes mean? Some Digimon are vaccine types, then theres data and virus and in some cases ive read about digimon having the free or variable type.. i thought it could be something like a typical strength-weakness thing but then i read a part of a wiki where it said that virus types and vaccines dont get along? So now im just lost about what it means

I am so confused im sorry this is probably a really stupid question haha

It's basically a game mechanic. You know how games will have elemental alignments, like for instance fire-aligned characters taking 2x damage from water attacks and fire attacks doing 0.5x damage against water-aligned characters? Virus/Data/Vaccine form a rock-paper-scissors relationship like that (Virus > Data > Vaccine > Virus). It's a defining feature for V-Pets, since it adds a factor regarding whether they have an advantage or disadvantage over their opponent besides just stats. and has been a franchise staple since the Pendulum 1.0, which introduced it as part of multiple factors that made Digimon raising more complex and interesting.

So every time Bandai or whatever comes up with a new Digimon, they'll usually assign an attribute type for it as part of the lore. There are times there'll be exceptions, and the old card game (Hyper Colosseum, not the new one) was kind of notorious about messing with these -- a good number of the "exceptions" chronicled on Wikimon are that game's fault -- but for the most part Digimon are pretty consistent with the typing you see on their Reference Book profile. Different attributes are often the major distinguishing factor between variants as well, so for instance the orange Greymon we all know from Adventure is Vaccine, while the blue one is Virus. Free Digimon are ones that aren't typed at all, so from a game perspective they give and take damage with no modifier; the most famous ones are the 02 quartet's Digimon (V-mon, Wormmon, Hawkmon, Armadimon) and the Armor Digimon, and Variable ones are ones that mimic their opponent's type when they battle (basically the Frontier Hybrid Digimon).

From a meta perspective, the attribute triangle corresponds to the Chaos-Neutral-Law alignment system in Shin Megami Tensei (which Digimon takes a lot of cues from), so that's why angelic or "holy" Digimon are usually associated with Vaccine while dark or edgier (?) Digimon are associated wtih Virus, and why you saw that comment about Vaccine and Virus Digimon often being portrayed as at odds with each other. Takato is implied to have made Guilmon a Virus type because, like many ten-year-olds, he thinks being edgy is cool. In theory, it should be an even rock-paper-scissors triangle, but in practice, the franchise is biased towards Vaccine types, because it has a tendency to portray most of its holy Digimon as unambiguously good while its chaotic dark Digimon are usually evil. (In comparison, Shin Megami Tensei's Law demons would often be even worse than the Chaos ones, because when taken to extremes Law vs. Chaos basically meant authoritarianism vs. anarchy.) Even the naming probably reflects that bias, since while there are a lot of positive chaotic entities, it’s hard to argue that a computer virus is likely to be good or beneficial. The Vaccine bias is a problem that's dated back all the way to the original Pendulums, since Vaccine was the default Ultimate and most commonly used type to the point it influenced the meta. It probably even says something that we didn't get a Virus-type Digimon as a main party character in the anime until Tamers.

(Weirdly enough, Digimon doesn't have any restraint portraying the dark side of Lawful behavior or even organized religion -- Yggdrasil being one of the franchise's most recurring antagonists is proof of that -- and it's also been comfortable with "sacred darkness" like Kouichi's Spirits, it's just that for some reason the actual typing doesn't reflect this.)

That said, typing has been irrelevant in the anime for the most part, probably because it really does have "game mechanic" written all over it, and also probably because being too stuck to it would limit storytelling options, so anime between 02 and Adventure: hasn't even included it on their Analyzer segments (a big deal was made out of Ghost Game bringing it back). It was brought up at the end of Adventure (as if driving home the franchise's Vaccine bias dating back all the way to here, everyone flips out negatively at the idea of Agumon evolving into a Virus type, which is then reinforced further with 02's MetalGreymon incident), and if you count Tamers battle statistics Guilmon/Terriermon/Renamon's win records and which Digimon they struggle against do seem to be mildly influenced by their Virus/Vaccine/Data typing, but that's about the most I can really think of in terms of story impact. Even the Sakurada series (Xros Wars, Adventure:, and Ghost Game), which tend to be really enthusiastic about Digimon null canon, haven't really delved much into it at all. So that's why Takeru's Patamon changing his type out of nowhere for no reason probably isn't that big of a deal, since most of the time Takeru will have him evolve into his Vaccine-typed angelic forms or the Free-typed Pegasmon anyway if they need to battle. But it still does play a big role in the V-Pets and console video games, and in the latter, party composition often depends on it. In fact, playing a console game often involves experiencing the franchise's Vaccine bias firsthand, because a lot of the time your party will end up full of Vaccine types without you even trying -- the infamous Demon Lord endgame quest in Cyber Sleuth basically depends on you having a party full of Vaccine types.

How is the 2020 reboot different than the original? Sorry if you've been asked this before.

oh nelly... um... I haven’t been asked this before lol but I dont know where to start. lets see if I can give you my thoughts

SO first, take everything you know about Adventure, besides the characters’ names and faces, and throw it out the window :)

the story starts with Tai and Izzy saving the world from a missile crisis with the help of Matt and their Digimon partners. Theres a cool new villain too! He has a lot of eyes. Omnimon shows up and saves the day! and then it all gets bad :)

the characters get slowly introduced, as well as their partners, but nothing new is really added to what we know about them. its impossible to not go into this season without all you know about the characters, ya know? and this season leaves them all flat and boring. The kids are constantly separated and when they are featured its for brief moments where they help forward the plot for Tai.

This season is all Tai and Agumon. Constantly battling, yelling, digivolving and saving the day almost single handed every time. I’m saying we are like 36 episodes in and its been constantly Tai fighting villains. The villains have typically 1 episode plot arcs and are defeated quickly and without any character developments of their own. the lack of villain character developments have surmounted to Digimon 2020 having no discernible plot :)

so how is 2020 different? it strips back the series to bare bones and gives you nothing in return! in fact I will go as far to say it is bad. I keep watching because I seem to be the main source of entertainment/updates for people. there are some redeeming qualities of the season but the negatives heavily outweigh the positives.

sooooo yeah, happy to answer more specific questions or give more elaborate thoughts :) surely do not want to defer you from watching it, but its gonna leave a similar impression as it has left on me and many others unforrunately :/

slight correction: shounen, shoujo, and kodomo are not genres, they're demographics. shoujo → teen girls, shounen → teen boys, kodomo → kids. and poetry is a medium, like novels or movies, not a genre.

the genres of the stories themselves can vary. of the examples you mentioned, Pokémon and Digimon would be kodomo fantasy/adventure. another popular kodomo is Doraemon, which is more of a slice of life. same goes for shoujo/nen, off the top of my head, some examples:

Fruits Basket and Natsume's Book of Friends (shoujo, slice of life/fantasy), Slam Dunk and Kokō no Hito (shounen, sports), can't not mention One Piece (shounen, adventure/fantasy) and Yona of the Dawn (shoujo, historical fantasy) as well as my beloved Skip Beat! (shoujo, career), and a lot more.

theres also two other demographics: josei (adult women) and seinen (adult men). but in all fairness, while shoujo/nen characters tend to be similar in age to their target demographic with only a few exception (NANA comes to mind, a shoujo with most of its characters being in their early 20s), josei and seinen tend to be more general in their characters' age range, particularly the protagonists. of course adult protagonists in their mid-20s and upwards are more common, but it's also easy to find josei/seinen with kids and teens protagonists. examples: Wondance and La Magnifique Grande Scène, both are seinen sports about dance with high school characters (street dance and ballet, respectively).

i just want to make the correction bc a lot of people have dismissed or refused to read an entire demographic thinking it's a genre theyre not interested in, such as thinking shoujo is only sappy teen romances or shounen is all just battle mangas. when in reality the demographic could and would have stories in genres or with tropes they may like if they want to look, because the demographic is just that: an age range of its main target audience. ^_^

(yaoi is indeed a genre, though, with yuri being its counterpart. however some sites may classify yaoi/yuri as strictly erotica—therefore adult—and use BL/GL for the non-erotic ones. but as far as i know this distinction isn't necessarily "official" i.e. widely agreed upon and used universally, so if you want to read yuri/yaoi but specifically looking for erotica or non-erotica romance, it's best to just read the story description and reviews rather than relying solely on the tags.)

20th Anniversary [20 Questions] Digimon Adventure.

FEB 14TH: FAVORITE SHIP/OTP

SORATO OF COURSE!

I mean they are my favorite characters and I ship then since I was in elementary school.

I liked the couple back in adventure, honestly I liked Taichi more at the very beginning and then when Yamato started to have a character development and I started to like him better.

I even used to think they were good for each other because "love" "friendship", it used to be like ok I ship them cause they are my favorites but at the end of the 8th chosen child arc I was like wow they do make sense together, I saw them interacting a lot, Sora even tried to save Yamato's life with a stick xD when he almost got chocked by this reaper looking digimon.

I also recall 3 scenes in particular besides the Hikari arc: when Sora is consumed by darkness and yamato helps her (with joe of course, I kind of like that ship too specially on adventure); when Yamato leaves the group and Sora tells him she is sure that he is gonna be ok (she supports him!) And my favorite one when Sora tries to run away from the group and Taichi and Yamato stop her, she explains why she doesn't want to come back, Taichi tease her a little and Yamato says: stop making fun! And then she starts crying, Taichi says what should we do? And Yamato answers: if she want's to cry let her be. That is when I realized how similar they were, both of them are more mature than the rest, they understand and respect each other, not like Taichi, but I don't blame him, he was a kid anyway; I absolutely love how TK kind of tells that he considers Sora like part of his family, she is the one that takes care of TK most of the time and probably he thought of her as a big sister. (Awww)

About 02 theres a lot os Sorato scenes, they are kind of superficial ones but I understand it, it is about the new kids, they are more like secondary characters. This will sound silly (I was still a girl!) When Jun says to Daivis she saw Yamato with other girl and I was like... could it be?! I think I jumped from my chair when I saw that girl was Sora xD I love when Taichi gives her his blessing xD about her being with Yamato, I grew up with the Mexican version witch is like 99% accurate to the japanese one so in that version and the original he says give him the cake Sora, I could be talking a lot honestly but I don't want to just keep repeating the same, so moving on to Tri.

Tri seriously dissapointed me, kind of, but I understand that the ship wars are intense about Taiorato, so I was pleased to see them together, even both running from the same place (maybe teasing that they were on a date?) When he touched her shoulder to make her feel better when she was afraid and having doubts. I obviously loved "Loss" they teased us about them too and I have to admit I love Taiorato, I love those 3 being bffs so I enjoyed it.

I really hope that Kizuna shows more Sorato (I seriously doubt it) but as long as the epilogue is cannon its fine. I have the feeling Im gonna hate the reboot, because Im pretty sure 2 things may happend, they will make Taichi and Sora canon OR no shipping at all, and honestly Digimon adventure is perfect the way it is, I believe is very well written and I love all the main kids, I love their character development, every single one of them grew up being a better self, it is an anime that I will treasure forever and Im gonna watch it with my kids if I have any, it is my favorite anime so far and probably it will be forever : )

I am dissapointed about myself because this Sorato post was superficial and I didnt go deep into the ship, I didnt give an analysis of any sort but I wanted to keep it "simple" (yeah I told myself, karla, make a short post, well that didn't happend!) So yeah, here is a picture of my small Sorato tribute that is part of my Digimon Adventure collection.

mikitaka, is there any shows that youve seen on earth that are interesting to you? do you like ones that have live action people or characters or more cartoony animated ones?

is there a particular type of show ypu like more? like comedies or educational or romance or scary shows? theres a lot more than that, but those are the only ones that came to mind

Oh there are plenty of earthly shows I find to be interesting! Digimon Adventures, Initial D, Various quiz shows and game shows... I do believe the ones with real people interest me more but I don’t mind watching either. It’s fun to see people’s reactions on those gameshows, especially when they know they might be winning some money.

I definitely do prefer gameshows, I think they would match in the comedy category. It’s fascinating to see what lengths people will go to for money or even sometimes it’s just for bragging rights it seems. It’s always interesting to see the challenges people go through on Takeshi’s Castle.

YEAH just as i expected, the final episode has cuts that are definitely animated by different people

also holy shit i didnt expect there to be so many different artists on this episode so i didnt expect it to be this long but it is. so under a read more it goes

like i think this cut is done by ebisawa, the ‘off-model’-ness is his vibes but what makes me think this the most is the expression on yamato’s face, it looks just like how ebisawa drew him in the homophobic tree episode (ep44). i may be completely wrong tho lol

the following action sequence definitely looks like yoshitaka’s. unfortunately action sequences are really hard to get good shots of so have these not very actiony stills instead

and then the shots of the family back in odaiba are definitely not drawn by yoshitaka. at first i thought it might have been drawn by tomoko itou but its definitely rounder than their style, so this is probably some other unidentified key animator i think??

and then this cut of takeru doesnt look like yoshitaka’s style either. it might be nobuzane’s?? idk.

I just watched the las PV of Tri, and I'm still thinking that Digimon Adventure Tri was none but a great waste of time and a waste of an opportunnities to create a good story, but no. 3 years wasted without anything to add to the franchise.

On the previus episodes, ovas, whatever you call it, are nothing but not respect the canon of Digimon, cheap teenager drama, and action only of the last 5 minutes of every episode.

Theres no answer of what is happening, what happened to the 02 kids, why none of the main 8 have make the question "Where are Davis and the other guys?", What is the main plot (or reason) of Meico and Meicoomon?, Why Alphamon and Jesmon are battling?, Why Yggdrasil or the Homeostasis are manifesting?, What is the reason for the infection?, Ohhhhh and the reboot, "I don't remember you, but I go with you and no experience but look, I can evolve to mega just like that". TF** was that?!!. I hated the reboot thing. And the cherry of the cake, reciclying Devimon again, The Dark Master and possibly Vamdemon, having thounsands of other digimons that are best and more interesting enemies than those.

Tri is none but a big and fat F*** YOU to the fans of Digimon.

Just wanted to share a short story since Pokken has been rereleased. Its a little long but i think its fun. About a year ago when the first Pokken came out, an entertainment store held a tournament on Pokken, scheduled in about a week. I’m a fighting game fan so the challenge lured me in, but I never touched Pokken up to that point (it had been released for a little while by then). So a friend of mine let me borrow his copy and I started my vigorous training.

I wasn’t a fan of the roster, especially since I only played RBY and was a blastoise fan, so at first I started using Machamp SIMPLY because he had some Jojo Ora Ora attacks.... but hes not very viable...nor good >_>. I probably could’ve made him work but I would’ve needed more than a week to do so, so I picked up Gardevoir because she had some tricks under her sleeve. First I beat offline mode to get used to the controls, then I took it online. To my surprise, NOBODY knows how to fight Gardevoir (at the time at least), I actually won a ton of my matches because she has so many versatile techniques, almost one for every situation. Sure, a knowledgeable foe that knows her stuff can completely shut her down and theres not much she can do, but they were very few and inbetween. I even fought some Mirror matches against others but I was able to beat them because they tried using her in a cheesy way, so much so that they were predictable and I put a stop to them. I knew she was the right main for the tourney after that. I also used the default assists because I doubted they would have all of them unlocked (and they didn’t)

Come fight day, there were like around 30 college students there, me, who was just slightly older than them, and then one 12 year old kid, who is ideally the demo for this game >_>. Everybody brought their 3ds, tagged each other, were talkin Pokemon, etc. I’m not into pokemon anymore but I could appreciate the environment. You’d be surprised who is still a Pokemon fan

Once the tourney started, about 20 of them used Garchomp. The tournament was nothing but them spamming dig on each other. The kid actually used Lucha Pikachu. One guy was a Shadow mewtwo main but SM was banned because he had an infinite at the time and it was deemed unfair, he went to garchomp too. Garchomp has the dreaded dig attack, he goes underground, dodges all attacks, and automatically zooms in towards the opponent to delivery a devastating shouryuken attack.

And sure enough, people complained that their assist that they played with (mostly the later ones you unlock) were not there

Then come to my fight. Gardevoir has an attack where she forms a dome around herself, which acts as a shield, and sure enough, it was strong enough to tank dig attack. My first opponent was so stunned his usual strategy didn’t work that he KEPT USING DIG ATTACK thinking he could break my guard. The shield can burst into an offensive attack and I countered him every time. Did he stop?

Nope. I win. Next time I fought a Garchomp. HE DID THE SAME THING. Thats when it hit me. These dudebros just learned enough about the game to cheese their way to victory for the prize money. Granted, I sorta did the same thing, but at least Gardevoir requires some technique and finesse. These guys were just trying to strongarm their way to the top. Didn’t work.

I never lost a single round.

My final match was against the 12 year old kid! (See, he was gonna come into play afterall!) Pretty much teaching the lesson of never underestimating your opponent. Just like Gardevoir, nobody ever fought against Lucha Pika and his tricks.....including myself! I don’t recall fighting one online, only the regular Mishima Pikachu. He also didn’t know much about Gardevoir.

So this was gonna be a match to remember!

Unfortunately for the kid, his inexperience in gaming is what led to his downfall, I caught on to Lucha Pika’s tricks MUCH faster than he caught onto mine. But to his credit, HE STILL BEAT ME ONE ROUND. I ended up winning. We shook hands and smiled because as the oldest and youngest, we beat all of the people that were in their prime. I felt a little bad I beat a kid but he came here with his claws and fangs on full display, going for the jugular. He put up a fight.

The prize was a 100 dollar gift card, and the kid got a 50. I used it to buy Digimon on PS4 (THE IRONY) and a bunch of Jojo manga when a b1g1 deal hit on them

So I run a local game shop in town, and the next day when I opened, 10 of the same people that were in the tourney, some of which I fought, all unrelated to each other, were in line outside to sell the game to the shop. and at least 10 more came in throughout the day. Me and that kid stomped them so hard that we utterly defeated them and they completely gave up on the Pokken life afterwards instead of wanting to improve. I actually kept playing the game a few months afterwards, even though no 2nd tourney was announced.

Me and that kid were the only ones that had the real heart of a Pokemon trainer. and even though my days of RBY version are long gone, I STILL just then went on a Pokemon adventure that day. While I won’t be picking up this new version (Since I don’t have the system), it being on the switch is great, that means you can take your battles on the go and have your own adventures!

its so crazy that in 9 episodes they been there almost a month... idk id love to know more thoughts on that... if there even more to add... given that in frontier everything happens in the digitalwold and theres 40+ episodes left they might be there for like a year? (as crazy as im realizing i am this concerned over a cartoon lol)

I gotta say, I’m not a big fan of it. Now granted, I’m shotgunning these episodes at a rapid pace rather than the recommended once-weekly dose, but I haven’t gotten the feeling from any of the events before this last episode that the kids have been here for a really long time just yet.

Compare it to Adventure, where the length of time they’ve spent away from home is talked about often enough to give a real sense of how much time has passed, so much so that when this happens:

One really does feel the same sense of shock that Taichi is feeling. Then when he goes back, it’s really easy for the audience to believe that from the perspective of the other Chosen, Taichi’s been missing for over a month. 

Tamers had this problem too. When the kids went to the Digital World, the flow of events suggests that they’d spent two or three weeks there, tops, and so the revelation that they’d been gone for close to six months comes out of nowhere and feels unearned. It’s still shocking, but not the good kind of shock.

02 didn’t deal with this at all, because the longest the kids ever spend in the Digital World continuously is a single weekend.

Now again, all of this might be due to the way I’m watching these episodes, which is two or three at a time every day, not giving each episode time to breathe in between viewings. I don’t think Digimon is a show that’s meant to be binge-watched like this, and this could be an example of why that is.

Pokemon I Choose You Review CONTAIN SPOILERS BEWARE.

I JUST CAME BACK FROM SEEING IT AND MAY I SAY IT BROUGHT BACK THE FEELS I FELT FROM WHEN I FIRST STARTED WATCHING IT AS A KID  😭 Pokemon was the very first anime I ever watched and later on I started watching Sailor Moon, Digimon and Cardcaptors 4 animes from my childhood.Once the original opening theme song started playing I sang it like theres new tomorrow.

first off it starts an alternate storyline from when Ash was heading out to start his pokemon adventure and yes Pikachu was his first I was literally counting down 3,2,1 till Pikachu first shocks Ash 😂 its not really kinda the same with Ash’s new VA since I’m so familiar to hear Veronica Taylor’s voice doing him and yep Ho Oh reappeared like in the anime version and he dropped a rainbow feather to Ash.

anyways we got to see him win 3 badges so far and I know the first 3 gyms he headed too first 😉 and yes I relive the scenes with the spearow’s attacking them and Ash capturing Catapie later evolving into a butterfree.

I even name all the pokemon I know 😂 when I see them on the screen, Later we meet Entei a legendary pokemon from the johto region and yes from the 3rd film too.

We’ve got to see Charmander again and once again abandon by its owner only the owner look way different in this than in the anime version and in the film once Charmander evolved Charmelon he literally obeyed Ash unlike the series he disobeys him even when he evolved into a Charizard (if you watch the orange islands season thats when Charizard started listening to Ash)

Team Rocket was pretty much useless in this movie it was funny seeing them blasting off again though 😂

The real enemy of this film was Charmander’s previous owner saying it was strength you need to be stronger and how he calls Ash soft or weak made me furious I wanted to jump in the screen and punch him 😡

There was one scene I was surprised with though that shadow pokemon who was watching Ash since he had Ho Oh’s feather Ash having negative thoughts on his first lost which is kinda how he acted at the beginning of the anime even admitting Pikachu could of won that fight instead of Charmelon and this shadow pokemon gave him a vision on how the world was like without Pokemon in it so pretty much our world and see Ash attending a normal elementary school but thanks to that he snapped out of his negative mind and thinking properly.

Butterfree’s farewell was ok the anime version was way better more dramatic and flashbacks to when Ash captured him as a Catapie
